Things to Know – Winter

Winter has arrived! Here are some things to know about closures and delays.

Daycare remains open unless it is a Level 3 Snow Emergency.

Preschool and Prekindergarten follow Lancaster City Schools regarding closures. If LCS is closed for the day, there is no Preschool or Prekindergarten. The only difference is delays. If LCS has a 2-hour delay, we operate on our normal schedule.

With winter and more indoor time, illness tends to spread more easily. Please be mindful of other children, their families and our staff. If your child is showing symptoms of illness, such as fever, severe cold-like symptoms, diarrhea or vomiting, please keep them home.

Finally, be sure your child has appropriate clothing for outdoor play for whenever the weather and temperature is appropriate. If the temperature is above 28 degrees, the children are supposed to be outdoors for a short time – 15 to 20 minutes. For most, that’s cold enough for a coat, mittens/gloves and a hat.

Thanks for allowing us to care for your children each day. Contact our office, 740-653-1358, with any questions or concerns.

Monthly Packing Events

On the second Tuesday of each month, we meet in Benner Fellowship Hall to prepare items for our two annual OCC Packing Parties. One is held in the summer, usually in July, and the other in October.

You are invited to help! Preparation involves anything from removing packaging from toys to assembling sewing or fishing kits…or simply wrapping soap in washcloths. Anything that’s needed so as many items as possible will fit into the shoebox.
